Preparation is everything in life. In fact, it is often said that luck favors the prepared and luck plays a part in success. Abraham Lincoln famously said that “Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the ax”. One of the most successful men in history knew how important preparation was to success, and so should you. With proper preparation, you will be able to master the art of success and when you master success all of your goals will be met. I did some thinking and here is why preparation is so important to success.
Have a Plan to Win
Coming up with a plan to win and succeed is the first step in gaining the success you crave. For example, would you jump from a plane without having a parachute? If you wouldn’t do that, why would you set out to succeed in life without coming up with a plan first? Having a plan for anything in life is the first step in succeeding. The best part about plans is that they can change when needed. Don’t let a bump in the road throw you off, adjust your plan and keep moving forward.
Set Time For Your Goals
When you have time, you have time to prep and master anything. Nothing in life is difficult, it just takes time. Learning how to build a rocket isn’t hard, it just takes time. Time is the most important resource you can invest in anything in life, which is why most people don’t want too. The most successful people do a number of things in their free time that helps them do better. It’s also important to utilize your time to achieve your goals.
Don’t Think of it as Optional
Preparation is optional for people who aren’t committed to their own success. It’s all too easy to fall for things such as “I’ll do it later” or “I’ll wing it” when it comes to preparing for anything. We’ve all been there at one time or another. Those days should be over to you, putting that habit behind you will put you on the first path to success. Preparation isn’t optional for successful people.
Practice Makes Perfect
Practice and preparation go hand in hand with one another. The great Muhammad Ali went on to say “I hated every minute of training, but I said, ‘Don’t quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion’.” Practicing your craft every day is the key to becoming successful. Not many people want to take the time to practice every day, there’s just so much other stuff to do. Well if you want to be a success suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.
